An Evening with local Author, Rebecca Titchner: A Ghost Comes Calling

Join us for a heartfelt evening with local author Rebecca Titchner as she shares the moving true story behind her memoir, A Ghost Comes Calling.
Rebecca—a St. Marys native and the Coordinator at the Elk County Recycling Center—is an engaging, dynamic speaker whose storytelling captivates and connects. Her memoir isn’t about ghosts, but about the traces of love, identity, and loss that linger across time.
Through twenty years of journals written by the sister she never met, Rebecca uncovers a powerful story of family, self-discovery, and healing. This is an event for anyone who believes in the power of truth and the strength of connection.

April After School Discover

Attention Parents & Students in Grades 4-8!
Students are invited to join Courtney Rieger from the Community Education Center for an After School Discover Day! Students will put their Communication and Design skills to work with an Egg Lift Challenge. Design and build a basket to be lifted by drones!

Poems for Pickles
Calling all poets ages 10 and up! This April, the library is hosting Poems for Pickles, which will be a fun and creative way to share your original poetry. Submit your own original poem to the library and receive ONE giant, delicious pickle!
Here’s How It Works:
1. Submit your own original poem! Poems can be handwritten or typed (Note: Only one original poem submission per person!) 📜🖊
2. Drop your poem off at the library circulation desk! 🖥📖
3. Get a tasty pickle in return! 🎁🥒
All submitted poems will be published on the library’s website and social media pages at the end of April to showcase the amazing talent in our community!

A Feast of Flavors Awaits!
Are you ready to embark on a delicious adventure? We invite all food lovers, home cooks, and adventurous eaters to our Cookbook Club, happening the last Saturday of every month from 12-2 PM!
How does it work? It’s simple!
- Step 1: Choose a recipe from our “Cookbook of the Month” displayed at the library Circulation Desk.
- Step 2: We’ll make a copy of it for you.
- Step 3: Whip up the dish and bring it to share at our Cookbook Club.
- Step 4: Gather with fellow foodies to savor bites, swap cooking tips, and enjoy great company!
Whether you’re a seasoned chef or just love experimenting in the kitchen, this is your chance to try new recipes, discover exciting flavors, and connect with others who share your passion for food. From hearty soups to delectable desserts, each month brings a fresh culinary theme to explore!

Book Club
The Book Club has two groups that meet monthly on Thursdays from 5-7 pm.
Book Club books are chosen by the librarian based on participant interest, requests, and book availability. Discussions are led by club members with a guide created by staff to get the group talking.

Great Ongoing Youth Programs
Check out some of the ongoing programs we’re proud to offer at the library. Through our programs, we aim to engage children and teens and help them learn through fun, educational activities.
Various children’s programs are held throughout the year. All programs are free to the public and include stories, simple games, snacks and related age-appropriate activities.

Lego & Building Club!
LEGO and Building Club. Back in Session Starting September 10!
From 3:30-4:30 pm every Tuesday. Club no longer just for building LEGOS. Participants can use the library’s LEGOS, Wooden Blocks, or STEM Kits to build whatever their imaginations desire.
No Registration Needed!
Story Hour
Library Story Hour Ages 0-4 : Story Hour sessions are held Wednesday from 10:30 – 11:15 AM. Miss Kendyl curates a story and craft session geared towards children ages 0-4 and will include a story, craft and snack. Older siblings are welcome to join. Children 2 and under must have an adult remain with them for the entire program.
Library Story Hour Ages 5-8: Story Hour sessions are held Thursdays from 3:30-4:30pm. Miss Kendyl curates a story and craft session geared towards children ages 5-8 and will include a story, craft and snack. Siblings are welcome to join.
Both programs are free to all local residents. For further information about this or other Library programs, you may call the Library at 486-8011 or visit us during regular Library hours.

Museum Adventure Pass Program from The PA Lumber Museum
Choo! Choo! All aboard! Buford the Buck and his Woodland Pals want to invite you to stop by at the library to check out the Lumber Industry Display!
You’ll find books on the Pennsylvania lumber industry, Pennsylvania railroads, the Civilian Conservation Corps, and Pennsylvania wildlife!
Stop by the library to learn more about the Museum Adventure Pass Program brought to you by The Pennsylvania Lumber Museum located on the scenic US Route 6!
The PA Lumber Museum prides itself on using fun and educational experiences to 1. enlighten guests on the rich history of Pennsylvania’s lumber industry and 2. show the importance of forest conservation. The Visitor’s Center includes tons of interactive exhibits both inside and outside. This even includes a re-created 20th Century lumber camp and a locomotive! Plus, there are plenty of picnic areas and even a nature trail.
Now, you and your family can use the Museum Adventure Pass Program to gain access to the Pennsylvania Lumber Museum and it’s exhibits for FREE! All you need is a valid and active library card!
